BizPsych Proficiency Framework
BizPsych Proficiency Framework is built upon two fundamental principles:
- The SCIENTIST-PRACTITIONER – Business psychologists serve dual roles as both generators and consumers of knowledge in their field. As scientists, they contribute to theoretical understanding through research and empirical investigation. As practitioners, they apply this knowledge to address specific organisational challenges. This integration of science and practice enables them to provide effective psychological services to individuals and groups in organisational settings.
- COMPETENCY BASED APPROACH – The goal of professional training is developing competencies. This framework defines the essential skills, behaviours, and capabilities required for professional practice in
business psychology. These competencies reflect current professional requirements and are regularly updated
to maintain relevance. Each competency area encompasses both theoretical knowledge and practical application, reinforcing the scientist-practitioner model. The framework recognises that excellence in business
psychology requires appreciation of diversity and commitment to well-being. Professional practice demands the ability to work effectively with diverse populations and contribute to individual and organisational wellbeing.
The integration of scientific principles and practical application is fundamental to each competency domain. Similarly, appreciation of diversity and commitment to well-being are essential elements that permeate all areas of practice. Business psychology practitioners must demonstrate proficiency in working with diverse populations whilst promoting individual and organisational well-being.
